The podcast for last night’s BBC 6 Music Mixtape show is now available and will be downloadable for a month. The final track is Environmental Sound Foundation‘s Tibet  (composed & performed by Neil March) introduced with great comments from Tom Robinson about breaking free of the constraints of dance music without losing the flow. We recommend listening to the whole 60 minute show as there are plenty of great tracks to enjoy here.

Demerara Records act Environmental Sound Foundation have had the track Tibet selected by music and broadcasting legend Tom Robinson for his BBC 6 Music Mixtape show. It will be played tonight between 2AM and 3AM. It will then be available for thirty days as a podcast.

Tibet is composed by Neil March and is the second track from Environmental Sound Foundation‘s new EP Disunited Nations which is out worldwide on Demerara Records on Friday 11th May 2018. You can hear the EP here.

Plans are in motion for the first of what we hope will be an ongoing series of Demerara Records Presents …. gig nights at the lovely [and PRS-licensed] Ivy House in Nunhead, South London. 

The gigs are likely to be on Thursday evenings with the first earmarked for late July/early August. Look out for more news about this exciting venture which will enable us to showcase some of the UK’s most exciting new music talent.

Californian radio station Lonely Oak Radio have delivered the worldwide premier play of the new Environmental Sound Foundation EP (8.50PM UK Time, Monday 2nd April 2018). Playing the track Prism from the Disunited Nations EP which will be released later this month, they have trumped all the UK and European stations.

Every week a group of lucky people known as moderators (of which Demerara Records  Composer and Recording Artist Neil March is one) get to listen to every new track submitted to the BBC 6 Music Introducing Dropbox (which is sometimes as many as 220 tracks) by aspiring and emerging bands and artists.

Between them the moderators select 25 tracks which are put up for the public vote on the Listening Post at Fresh on the Net, the amazing website curated by music and broadcasting legend Tom Robinson. Tom presents the BBC 6 Music Mixtape Show as well as his evening shows at the weekend. And he regularly plays his favourite tracks from the Listening Post on his shows.

At the moment the turnout of voters at the Listening Post isn’t bad but it could be better if more music enthusiasts took the time to check out the new tracks each weekend and cast their votes (with the option to add comments). It’s a great opportunity to be part of a cool community of true fans indicating which of the week’s new tracks they think deserve to make the top ten favourites.

The Listening Post opens around lunchtime every Friday and closes early on Sunday evening. The ten favourites are then reviewed by one of the moderators with links to their web and social media pages and a link to listen to each track on Soundcloud. Neil has already been the reviewer twice so far in 2018.

British Composer and Demerara Records artist Neil March has a Soundcloud  page dedicated to his Library Music. This is music ideally composed and recorded for use in film soundtracks, TV documentaries, adverts, computer games, bar music compilations and other media.

British Composer and Demerara Records artist Neil March has written the reviews of the listeners’ top ten ‘faves’ for Pop and Broadcasting legend Tom Robinson‘s Fresh on the Net Listening Post.

Neil was appointed as a moderator for the Listening Post in January 2018. He is one of a group of people who listen to all the new tracks submitted to the BBC Introducing Mixtape  in-box each week. The moderators’ votes determine which tracks make the final cut of 25 for the Listening Post which then goes to a public vote. The top ten become that week’s favourites. Some might also be selected for Tom Robinson’s BBC 6 Music Mixtape Show and some will also get played on his Saturday evening show. Neil himself has had his music played on both shows in summer 2017 before also making it onto the BBC’s Summer Playlist.

The moderators take it in turns to write up the reviews for the site and Neil volunteered to take the job on in his second week as a moderator. You can read Neil’s reviews here.
